The Staple Tee

The Staple Tee

US$10.00

The Staple Tee is a knitted raglan tee that is worked from the top down. This classic design has a small amount of positive ease for a relaxed fit. It is elevated with the matching folded collar, hem, and sleeve cuffs detail, and has ~perfect~ neck shaping. The best part? It is made-to-measure using your unique body measurements and you can use any weight yarn! This tee will fit everyone like a dream, and the simple design makes it a true closet staple.

  • The Staple Tee is an interactive, made-to-measure pattern that calculates the number of stitches, rows, and yardage for a pattern.

The benefit of this type of pattern is that it makes your pattern size inclusive to virtually any body size (theoretically, it should even work for an infant!) and it allows you to use any yarn and any gauge! This is done by allowing the user to type in their body’s measurements and gauge onto the pattern. Then, in the background, the pattern will calculate all the math within the pattern to fit the person perfectly.

It is recommended that the pattern is accessed through Adobe Reader.

  • This pattern is for intermediate knitters or ambitious confident beginners.

  • Step-by-step instructions AND video references are included for each technique:

    - Stockinette in the round

    - Increasing

    - German Short Rows

    - Folding a collar

    - Whip stitch

  • You can use any gauge! However, it is very important that you gauge swatch and determine your gauge before working this pattern in order to determine how many stitches and rows you need to work throughout this pattern to get the exact right fit.

  • You can use any size circular needles for this pattern. I recommend using a needle size that creates a nice fabric with the yarn you’ve chosen to work with. If you’re not sure what needle size to go with, try the recommended needle size on your yarn’s label.

In terms of needle sizes, you will need:

Needle Size 1: Your main working needle size that you use to achieve gauge

Needle Size 2: .5mm smaller than needle size 1

Needle Size 3: 1mm smaller than needle size 1

In terms of cord lengths for your circular needles, you will need:

    12" (30cm) circular needles for Needle Sizes 1, 2, and 3.

16"+ (40cm+) for Needles Sizes 1 and 2 (length of cord depends on your body/preferences) circular needles.

Double pointed needles (DPNs), 9-12" (27-30cm) circular needles, OR 36”+ (90cm+) circular needles to use with the magic loop method for Needle Sizes 1 and 2

    Other materials:

    • Stitch Markers (8 in one color/design, and 1 in another)

    • Tapestry Needle

    • Scissors

    • Measuring Tape

  • You can use any weight and any size yarn for this pattern!

The amount of yarn you need will depend on your measurements as well as the type of yarn you use.
