Why You'll Love the KAL

Knitting a sweater can feel intimidating. Between choosing yarn, figuring out sizing, and working through each section of the pattern, it’s easy to get stuck or overwhelmed.

That’s exactly why this knit-along exists.

The Staple Sweater KAL breaks the process down into manageable steps so you always know what to work on next. With weekly livestream tutorials, a supportive knitting community, and clear milestones to keep you moving forward, you’ll have everything you need to confidently knit a sweater that actually fits and feels amazing to wear.

By the end of the KAL, you won’t just have a finished sweater — you’ll have new skills, new knitting friends, and the confidence to tackle future garments.

About the KAL

The Staple Sweater KAL is a guided knit-along where we’ll work through the Staple Sweater pattern together from start to finish.

Instead of tackling a sweater on your own, you’ll have a clear weekly structure, support from other knitters, and real-time guidance to help you through every step.

When you join the KAL, you’ll get:

A step-by-step schedule so you can make steady progress without overwhelm
Weekly livestream tutorials where we walk through the current section of the sweater together
Replay access if you can’t attend live
A private Discord community to ask questions, share progress, and connect with other knitters
Weekly email updates with tips, reminders, and encouragement
Prizes and giveaways for participants who complete their sweaters

Think of it like knitting a sweater with a whole group of supportive knitting friends cheering you on.

What You’ll Learn

The Staple Sweater is designed to be approachable, even if this is your first sweater.

During the KAL we’ll cover things like:

• Swatching and understanding your gauge
• Raglan increases and sweater construction
• Trying your sweater on as you knit
• Adjusting sleeve and body length
• Finishing and blocking your garment

By the end, you’ll have a made-to-measure sweater and the skills to confidently knit another.

Staple Tee KAL

I liked that it was a longer KAL with specific examples sections of the pattern to do each week. That was really helpful to keep myself on track. My favorite KAL/CAL/MAL I’ve ever done.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Knit-Along (KAL)?

A KAL is a fun, community-based event where makers knit the same project together, sharing progress, tips, and encouragement along the way.

How long does the KAL run?

The KAL runs for 9 weeks, starting October 27 and finishing with a celebration and prizes on December 22. Each week focuses on a specific section of the sweater, so you’ll always know exactly what to work on next.

What do I get when I sign up?

When you sign up for the KAL, you’ll get:

  • A copy of the Staple Sweater pattern (if you choose the KAL & Pattern option)
  • Access to weekly livestreams with step-by-step guidance and instant replays
  • Entry to the private Discord community for support, questions, and sharing your progress
  • Weekly tips and reminders to keep you on track
  • Opportunities to win prizes during the KAL
Do I need to be an experienced knitter to join?

Not at all! This KAL is perfect for ambitious beginners who are ready to take on their first fitted sweater. It's also a fun project for more intermediate knitters.

We break down each technique step by step, with livestreams, replays, and a community to answer any questions.

How much time should I expect to spend each week?

Plan for roughly 1–2 hours per week for the livestream section and then additional time to work on your knitting. The pace is flexible and you can knit along at your own speed.

What if I miss a livestream?

No worries! Every session is recorded and will be shared with you so you can watch it anytime.

You can also ask questions in the community if you get stuck at anytime.

Can I join if I already have the Staple Sweater pattern?

Absolutely! There’s a discounted rate for returning pattern owners, and you’ll get all the same KAL support, community, and livestream guidance.

What if I change my mind after signing up?

Unfortunately, there are no refunds, and you can't transfer your purchase to another KAL. However, you’ll have lifetime access to the pattern and the recordings after the KAL ends.

When are the livestreams?

The livestreams take place at 12pm EST, with replays available immediately afterwards.
